Councilman Paul A. Purcell

First elected in 2017, Paul A. Purcell is a husband and father, and has been employed since 2001 by a Forbes top 20 healthcare organization as their Director of Operations where he leads teams responsible for managing pharmacy benefits on behalf of health plans and large employer groups.

Paul and his wife Catrina relocated to Riverdale in 2005 the same year they married.  Catrina, also involved in the community, has been a Trustee on the Borough’s library board since 2018.

Prior to moving to Riverdale Paul was raised in Clifton and later Wayne, before entering the U.S. Marine Corps in 1997 on active duty and receiving an honorable discharge in 2004.  He was engaged with the PLRSA (Pompton Lakes Riverdale Soccer Association) as both a coach and divisional supervisor for 7 years before resigning in 2020.  Previously the Jr. Vice Commandant, Paul remains a life member of the Marine Corps League Lakeland Detachment #744, a local non-for-profit geared towards helping Veterans in need and their families.

Much like his late father Alan Purcell who served Wayne proudly as a Councilman for nearly 20 years; Paul is an advocate for transparency in Government and fiscal accountability.  Other areas near to him include: first responder support, flood mitigation, responsible spending, and maintaining the Borough’s appeal by engaging the community with activities and events.
