Summer Camp
SUMMER RECREATION INFORMATION
Summer Recreation is a 5 week program held at the Community Center for Riverdale Residents only. It is a full time program for children entering grades 1st – 6th grade as of the upcoming Fall school year and a part time program for children entering grades 7th and 8th as of the upcoming Fall school year. The program runs for five weeks and generally begins the Monday after school is out. The hours of Summer Rec are 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Pick up and drop off are always at the Community Center – all trips will depart and return within Summer Rec hours.
Summer Rec visits places such as the bowling alley, movies, miniature golf, Funplex, ice skating – depending on what is available and cost effective to be reserved. On the days that we do not travel we remain at the Community Center and utilize the school fields and playground, along with other activities in and around the building to keep the children active throughout the day. Summer Rec meets rain or shine – we do not cancel for weather. The activity might get canceled, but we will still have camp.
Our Counselors also must be Riverdale Residents and most have grown up in the program themselves and are eager to return to be counselors and be with your kids entertaining them all day. They are usually 16-18 years old and since we are a small town they probably live around the corner from you.
Summer Recreation does not make a profit so therefore all costs are shared among everyone attending which means the final cost cannot be calculated until registration has closed and all trips are booked and staff is hired so that all expenses can be calculated and evenly distributed among those attending. We won’t know that answer until registration closes.
